It was good. I loved Boo. Wish there had been more of him in the book. Probably would have rated it higher if I had read it physically. Didn’t feel like this book really wrapped up the plot line though. You really need to pick up the next one to find out what happens next with the sleeper.
I liked reading this book full of Indian Mythology. I loved learning the myths and stories behind them. the characters of Aru and Mini were fun and the banter between them was hilarious. A well told middle grade book in my opinion.
I wanted to LOVE this book but Aru was just too annoying. I love all of Rick Riordan's YA books and found the mythology so interesting but I am unlikely to keep reading the series

3.9 ⭐️ It’s nice and lovely. It’s written for adolescents though. Maybe pick up something else if you’re looking for kids book that is also interesting to adults.

This was the first book I read by Roshani Chokshi, and wow. This was an incredible introduction to a series that I absolutely love.
It's exactly what I wanted from the Percy Jackson books growing up. It felt so special to read about my culture in this way. I felt completely transported into Aru's world, and I didn't want to leave.

A reread of one of my favorite Middle Grade series. I love the characters and learning about Hindu mythology through a fun adventure.
Actual rating: 3.5 ★
An obvious recommendation for any fan of Percy Jackson, but also for just any middle-grade lover in general.
“UNLESS YOUR LIFE YOU WANT TO CURSE.A very fun and quick middle-grade fantasy, which is able to take itself lightly while still being serious when it matters. Great to see a book that lets 12-year-old girls be 12-year-old girls; silly, and somewhat petty, badasses. More heroines like this, please!
THE TIME IS NIGH TO SPEAK IN VERSE.”
