It is a solid YA novel. I found Aru and Mini to be endearing characters, and the story overall exciting. I also learned a lot about Hinduism. Overall, though, I found the character introductions and overall development to be lacking. Ultimately, I'm going to continue reading the series because the storyline is intriguing; fingers crossed that character development improves throughout the series!

This was fun read based on Indian mythology. I am excited to read the rest of the series!
Aru Shah and the end of time is such a fantastic read. It is the perfect mix of magic, humor and mythology. This is the first book in the Pandava Quartet. After reading this book I wanted more. Aru Shah is a 12 year old girl who lives upstairs an Indian Art and Culture Mueseum in Atlanta. There is a lamp that her mother says never to light in the hall of gods and Aru is dared to light it by her classmates who say she is a liar. When Aru lights the lamp the world of indian mythology comes to life and she discovers she is a Pandava brother.
Aru Shah the humorous sassy heroine embarks on a quest with Mini, another Pandava brother to stop the sleeper. The mythical creature in the lamp is trying to stop time and they must stop him. Along the way Aru discovers things about her family and her past. Aru learns about the new world of indian mythology.
I loved this book. I am one of those people who like to fly through books in a day or two. But I loved it so much I slowed down and read it in three days. I love Aru's personality and her funny character. I love how Aru and Mini really grow as friends/sisters at the end of the book. Aru and Mini's companion is Sabula, a pigeon nicknamed Boo.
Overall this is an amazing book! Five stars!!I can't wait for
Aru Shah and the Song of Death coming in April 2019!!!!!

I appreciate it for what it's trying to do, but in the end it's basically a Rick Riordan clone that happens to feature a female lead in Indian mythology. I picked it up because it tried to compare itself to Sailor Moon. I wish that the book had excited me as much as that description.
Refreshing, funny and quite the eyeopener. I knew that there had to be a series like this, tackling the vast Hindu mythology with its pantheon of heroes gods and other creatures, which I knew very little of.
Filled to the brim with the Hindu legends, heroic heroines, a mouthy or rather, beaky pigeon and pop culture references. It proved to be quite the pleasant diversion.
I’ll admit though, it took a long time for the main character to grow on me. But hey, I’m not 12.
Soneela Nankani’s narration matched the tone of the novel, her voicing skills portraying 12-year-old girls one moment and a world devouring being the next. She was easy to listen to.
Over all, this was a solid 3 stars for me.
If you liked ‘The Kane Chronicles’ trilogy, you might give this a try, you’ll be surprised.

This book was a really delightful combination of satisfying adventure story, ancient legends, and irreverent modern humor. Definitely recommend.
