mi ricordo che è stata una grossa delusione questo libro perche pensavo fosse una storia sugli squali.. invece parlava di una sirena!!! grande trauma infantile XD
This book kept me entertained throughout the entirety of it. I only needed a few more books to complete my reading goal for 2021. I went to the bookstore to pick up my last few reads and as a joke I was like "I should just read a goosebumps book for the nostalgia", but my partner told me I should actually do it especially since they're pretty short. I picked this up on a whim and I'll tell you R.L. Stine still hits like it used to. I really enjoyed reading this and it brought back a lot of memories of childhood and bingeing both the books and shows.
Billy and his sister Sheena are spending time with their uncle, Dr. D, on his boat while he conducts science experiments. When he’s asked to look for a mermaid, Billy can’t wait to jump at the opportunity for glory… but is it all worth it? The plot to this held some excitement and some suspense, but it wasn’t truly terrifying. This one definitely had a good morale to it and the lesson that Billy learned was important. Aside from that, this was entertaining with some good, shady characters to spice it up.
Okay, this was surprisingly good, better than Night of the Living Dummy. I know I'm a bit biased because this was about marine biology, but it was very well written. It's more of a thriller than horror, and of course has the great cliff hanger at the end. As a marino biologist, I'm glad this wasn't a book about sharks being evil, because they aren't. It took a classic unrealistic spin that makes Goosebumps books just fantastical enough to not scar the kids who read them.
The scariest thing in this book was the zoo owners.
They admittedly are pretty grossly evil, but that's hardly satisfying when you're coming to these books looking for horror of the supernatural - rather than human - kind.
