Though it's felt it has taken me ages to read this book, I've finally finished it. The Passenger series has quickly become one of my favorites. I love the magic, the conflict, the fantasy, the characters. Everything. Alexandra Bracken managed to sweep me up and make me fall in love with her writing all over again.

“Do you believe in destiny, then?” “I believe in humanity, in peace, and the natural order of things,” he said. “I believe that the only way to balance the power of what we can do is with sacrifice. Accepting that we cannot possess the things and people not meant for us, we cannot control every outcome; we cannot cheat death.”

“There is the journey that you make through the world — the one that aches and sings.”

In the thrilling sequel to Passenger, Etta, confused, makes her way to the Thorns. On the other hand, Nicholas enlists the help of Sophia and Etta’s mom Rose to help track her down. Can their timelines converge before disaster strikes? Will they be kept apart forever?

This sequel was SO good. I love the way this author writes - her prose is beautiful and heartbreaking. The story pulls you in and keeps you guessing through the whole novel, and yes, I cried a little at the end. Such a good ending. I wish there was more in this universe!

I loved Passenger, but I was not as big of a fan of Wayfarer. The story was harder to follow this time around and I found myself dreading Nicholas's perspective.

Liked this waaay better than the first one. I really liked how the characters were presented in this one. I totally loved Rose Linden. Her prologue and epilogue part were really good. I think I would've gave this 5 stars if the first few pages of the book wasn't dull and a bit unremarkable although, the latter part up to the end was really interesting and exciting. Nevertheless, I would definitely recommend it :)

I looooooved that ending but I feel like the first part of the book was a bit confusing for my taste and it definitely felt longer than Passenger? But that ending was perfection at its peak and I loved all of the characters! An amazing story and set of characters and witty dialogue and Etta and Nicholas and HENRY I LOVED HENRY and SOPHIA I LOVED THEM ALL AAAAAAHHH

These books are art. I liked this one as much as the first, which is to say, a lot.

This was SO GOOD! The book picks up right where Passenger leaves off. It's an action packed sequel that ties up all the plot ends, and provides a satisfying ending for th reader. Alexandra Brackens growth in writing from the Dark Minds series is really evident here. And this is definitely one of the rare sequels that is better that the first book! A must read series.

This book was great. Not as great as Passenger though. I think what made Passenger so great was the introduction to the whole world of travelers. Wayfarer was definitely good, but I feel like it took too long to sort the conflict out; also, the characters travelled so swiftly through passages we rarely get the time to truly see what year they’re going through. I wish the places and times they travelled through would’ve played a greater role in the story. There was little room for anything else inside the characters’ minds other than finding Etta and/or the astrolabe. Those were the driving elements of the story. The writing was beautiful, if a bit complicated when terms referring to items of clothing from other eras were used. The pacing was mostly fine, quite quick-paced after the 150-page mark give or take. I did struggle to really get into the story at first, and at times I was much more interested in one storyline than the other. Nevertheless, I flew past the last 200 pages. Even if I the first half of the book didn’t really drag any feeling from me, the last 200 pages definitely did. By the last hundred pages I was dying to know how the story would end. It took its sweet time, but the story did hook me. I think it was a solid conclusion to this duology and the story definitely took an unexpected turn from Passenger; the whole storyline about The Ancient One and the origins of the astrolabe were quite unexpected while reading Passenger. The story was good, it had a lot of individual conflicts that just complicated further the paths of Etta and Nicholas. The book also had the underlining theme of morality, how people can act selfishly or fight that selfishness and ultimately make good decisions. Also, there was a recurring theme of patterns and how they affect the lives of the characters. Onto my favorite part of reviews: the characters. First comes Etta, who I think was just as bad-ass as in the first book but who also struggled a lot with herself and her sense of what it means to have a family and people who care about you. I think that she had incredible growth in her role as a traveler and how she embraced that lifestyle. I adored her independence and how she strived to fight for what she thought was right. I also enjoyed reading the scenes in which she plays the violin and how music has a deep impact in her life. I completely loved her finding her father and trying to develop a relationship with him. On the topic of Henry Hemlock, I adored him. I think he was extremely gentle and had a deep sorrow for what happened with Rose in the past. I also think he’s genuinely trying to connect with his daughter and he’s also delighted to see what she has become. I loved seeing him struggle with the problems of trying to change someone’s fate to no avail. I think he had quite an intriguing point of view on destiny and how some things are just simply meant to be, no matter how many alterations are done to the timeline. Out of all the new characters, he quickly became my favorite. Next, I really liked Li Min, she reminded me so much of Six of Crows’ Inej. I think she kicked-ass and that she knew her way around weapons incredibly well. I wish we’d known her a bit better and have reached into her thoughts. I also really admired her strength and her ability to overcome hardships. Sophia was brilliant. I loved her attitude. She showed such a different side of herself and seeing her begin to tear her walls down was incredible. I also really loved how she endured after struggling with having one eye after the events of Passenger and how she interacted with Nicholas during their search for Etta. I also really enjoyed seeing her display signs of affection, even if it was something more like rough love. Then comes Julian. I really liked him, despite him appearing cowardly. I think he was cunning and extremely smart as well as sassy. He’s another character I would like to get to know better. Last but not least, comes Nicholas. He annoyed the holy bejesus out of me sometimes. I did get his moral struggle, but he felt so adrift. Maybe that was the point but I constantly wanted to slap him to get him to come out of himself and think things through to finally find Etta. Near the ending, I softened towards him and really grew to like him. I think he’s honorable (sometimes a little too much), and has a great heart, he proved himself to be selfless over and over again (once more, perhaps a bit too selfless). In general I think I liked much more Nicholas and Etta together, I found them more endearing. I struggled a bit with them when they were apart. In general, I did enjoy the book. I think it did a great job of wrapping up this story. Perhaps I can only give it 4 stars because it took me too long to get into the story but it is definitely worth the read.

This book was a little bit lacking for me. The time travel stuff that seemed simple in book one became sooo confusing in this one. There was also an insane amount of times where each character at some point had to "fight down the bile" ALSO I get that this book will be filed under magic/fantasy/adventure/romance aka unrealistic, but I'd still like to see the characters eat and sleep. Etta had this terrible injury to her shoulder and somehow she fights through a mob, carries a body, rows a boat, all without eating or sleeping ever. Don't even get me started on nick. But whatever I liked it. I'm in a picky mood.
