This is a great 4.5 stars. A well written and solid sequel to PASSENGER. I read the first installment over a year ago, and I mostly recall Etta's narrative. Her entire life changed in an instant when Alice was killed, she discovered she was a traveler, and that she'd never really known her mother. I was swept along with her emotions through it all. Nicholas was very much present, but it was Etta's voice that spoke to me the most. However, the opposite was true for me in WAYFARER. This story belongs to Nicholas. It is his journey that has affected me the strongest, and it's the one I'll remember the clearest in the future. Nicholas goes through a lot in this book, as he and companions make increasingly dangerous choices that have rather destructive consequences. Etta faces much as well, and I don't want to discount her experience in this sequel either.

My only complaint is that Etta and Nicholas spend the majority of the novel apart. However, though the promise of a happy and long lasting reunion grows increasingly more dim as the stakes get higher, they are always dedicated to and thinking about each other. Although new characters and old return, there is absolutely no waffling or petty drama about their feelings for each other or their understanding that they are the best partners for each other. Even when others try to deceive or misdirect them. They want to find each other again, but both have big roads and world changing choices ahead of him. All I'll say is that I ended this book very satisfied :).

I haven't even talked about all the fascinating places I got to visit through this book. I highly recommend this time travel duet!

3.5

I'm pretty sure I liked Passenger more, but, to be fair, Wayfarer has some great qualities.

There's no second book syndrome, no love triangle, no useless drama and the cast of characters has new, interesting elements. And while it's not one of the main topics, there's a lot of diversity, when it comes to race and sexuality too.

I really liked the new characters and the insight we had on the old ones. Sophia is much more tolerable, Henry totally rocked, and I actually wish Li Min had had more space, because for me she was the most interesting among the new characters, and she was totally badass.
SpoilerJulian was lovely too. Such a silly flirt.
Etta and Nick are, sadly, separated for most of the book, but at least we got to see them grow a bit. It was pretty positive that there was no drama between them and that they weren't like most ya characters, who usually start to mope around when they're not together.

Their relationship took the backseat, for obvious reasons, but their feelings towards each other were there. Given the situation, I think the balance between their thoughts of each other and their personal growth was good.

That said, the plot wasn't really surprising. The pace was quite slow, but not in a disturbing way. All in all, I pretty much flew through it, in spite of things going at a slow pace. I liked the time traveling aspect more in the first book, though. There wasn't anything wrong with it, but I liked their destinations more in Passenger.

The ending was a bit rushed imo. I would have like a glimpse of Sophia and Li Min for example, or a scene with Etta's parents too.

This was wonderful end to a compelling story. Alexandra Bracken nails it again with this finale to her duology.

8/10
-This was such a great conclusion to a wonderful duology.
-There was so much that went on in this book. All of the characters traveled to so many different places, there where a lot of revelations, new characters, climactic build-up scenes, and many times where you had yourself second-guessing.
-The ending was absolutely perfect.
-Throughout, I found there to be spots where the pacing got really slow, and it was hard because you knew something exciting was coming, but you had to read a slow part before you could get there.
-I also thought that some of the complex rules of traveling were explained in a confusing way.

I actually read this a while ago but heres a small review;
I remember this book taking me through different worlds which I enjoyed as i’ve always wanted to travel. It also took me on an emotional rolercoaster. I would definetely recommend it to you if you like romance, fantasy and/or time travel.

3.8 stars.

I love this duology but I felt like the first half of the book was a bit slow.
I really liked the ending, the perfect ending for this story. But one of the things that made enjoy Passenger so much was the dynamic between Etta and Nick, and it was obviously missing for the most part of this book.
Other than that, I enjoyed the read very much, specially the second half.

MY HEART IS EXPLODING. What a phenomenal ending to an unforgettable duo-logy. Beyond amazing - this set deserves a genre of its own simply because it stands out and should be read by anyone with eyes (or ears, if that's your thing). Perfect, perfect, perfect.

Love, love, love Etta!

I do feel like this could have been 2 books though, especially considering it was twice as long as book one, but every bit as good.
