This one was a very good and frustanting book! I loved it´s characters and the dynamics between them, especially Sophia and Nick, they become my favorite pair, just, frienships goals all the way.

I only didnt like two things:

1) Why the alchemist and the shadows plot was never hinted at the first book.
2) The romance between Nick and Etta. Now dont get me wrong, I do ship them, but their complete love for each other after only a week felt a little forced. I would prefer that their adventure in the first book had been longer, so that their relation didn´t feel as rushed.

I finished it two months ago and I barely remember a couple of scenes. I wish I could get into Alexandra Bracken's writing, [b:The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding|33785202|The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding (The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding #1)|Alexandra Bracken|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1494357195s/33785202.jpg|47473773] sounds so good.

Got to chapter 2 before DNFing

Yes, I gave three stars but I enjoyed it! I'm starting to realize my problem is with Bracken's writing. It's so hard for me to get into her books! I was seriously consider giving up on this on because I just couldn't seem to read for more than 15min before having to stop. I was in despair. I have 3 weeks of school holiday and the first one was spent trying to finish this book. Jeez. Not to say that I found some scenes really confusing to follow. But that could be just me.

However I enjoyed the story overall and the characters, but this might me my last Bracken book, at least as a physical book, next time only as an audiobook. I hate DNF books but pushing myself through books like this is torture. I need to find a solution.

This was just plain boring with a boring ending.

4 Stars: I didn’t enjoy this as much as the first one, but nonetheless it was a satisfying conclusion. This book took longer to get into than its prequel, probably around half the book, but it did pick up eventually. I would have appreciated one more chapter at the end so we could see that (hopefully) Etta and Nicholas were happy.

Echt Mega Schade! Mein einziger Trost: Das wunderschöne Cover!

Fazit: Hat mir leider überhaupt nicht gefallen

A bit messy and confusing at times (difficult to keep all the families straight - just boiled it down to the Ironwoods and Hemlock), but still a satisfying conclusion to this book duo (Passengers #1)

Pick for the pop sugar reading challenge - a book set in 2 or more different time periods.

I'm not sure how I really feel about this book. I definatly enjoyed it which shows as I finished the second half of the book in one day however, I couldn't focus on it for long periods of time and had to read a couple chapters at a time before taking a break. I feel like I could describe some parts of this as quite slow going and maybe a bit more long winded than it needed to be although, overall I enjoyed the conclusion to this story.
