It was okay. Lots of misogyny (believe it or not, you can have mafia romances without misogyny!) and a massive miscommunication trope that just was not my thing, personally.  Having the dual perspective really just highlighted the lack of communication between the MMC and FMC. I’ve enjoyed other books written by this author so thought it was a good call buying the whole series this book is the first of, but I am in no rush to read the rest of them as of now. Three stars because it was the first book Willow Winters wrote and certainly could’ve been worse.

In less then 24 hours ….

This book is ravishing!

365 Day  meets Goodfellas vibes

Now I am just very picky so this book did not receive 5 stars…with that said….I will forever recommend this book if you are looking for a mafia spice romance.

The pet name in this book is just an ick for me …and the suspense in the overall conclusion of the plot fades to black and I knew it was coming and just expected a little more.

The smut is to die for it’s a great plot/smut ratio

I’m looking forward to the rest of the discreet series.

I really liked the world building for this book.  It surprisedly kept my interest, the audiobook was really lovely done.  It was a bit dramatic at some points but then again most mafia romances are.  The spicy moments were kinda boring, they all seemed rushed.  I liked the ending but not so much the epilogue; it seemed a bit too heteronormative for me.

CW: violence, gun violence, kidnapping, death of parent, death of spouse, gambling

This isn't insta-love, but it's really fast. Dom and Becca have instant chemistry and acted on it. They started out intending to use each other, but then feelings got involved. They both have issues with the mafia life and it definitely causes division in their fledgling relationship. I did like how things were brought to a close. I did find Dom cute as he tried to explore his feelings and figure out how to share them with Becca. They both had problems expressing their feelings.
