I really enjoyed this one, I definitely learned a lot about the human body. Mostly random facts I’ll end up spouting at some point but I’m here for it. Bryson walks you through the body starting in the brain, working through the body and its processes and eventually death. He explained different discoveries about parts of the body and in different areas of medicine and kept it entertaining with a variety of anecdotes; most comical in nature but ranged from inspiring to downright horrific. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a better understanding of the human body as a whole but not looking to read a dry, long winded medical article.

I will say I didn’t like his use of the term “Western world” (which he used frequently) as I felt it often implied some sense of superiority to industrialized wealthy nations over less industrialized, less wealthy nations.

My coworkers have started to hate this book because I came in everyday after reading a bit of it with fun (and not so fun) facts about the body. But regardless of what they think, I really enjoyed the book

Very informative and a great lay out someone interested in the body with a huge biology background. Well paced and a good blend of personal and historical stories and medical explanations. But don't read this is if you have a weak stomach or get upset by descriptions of illness or depressing statistics.
