I understand that part of the point is you don't really like the main character but Darrow is just so insufferable. I couldn't take him or the book seriously most of the time.

Loved this book! Such a unique and brutal concept—it rips your heart out before you’ve even truly begun. The writing is so good, the characters are complex and fascinating, and I’m already a big fan of this series. Brutal, beautiful, heartbreaking, hopeful… totally worth the hype.
