This was a damn good start on what should be a life-long conversation with your kids rather than a single embarrassing "talk".

GREAT book about where babies come from. It's accurate without being too advanced (or too embarrassing for parents). It leaves out the whole "mommy daddy" thing, so it's especially good for kids who were not conceived by a mom and dad in a "traditional" way, kids who were adopted, kids who have same sex parents, single parents, etc... It also shows babies being born via cesarean (as my kids were). Oh, and it's cute.

What a great book. It doesn't give as much of the clinical details but I can explain that well enough myself. What it gave me was inclusive language to use to teach my kids about the variety of ways that babies come into a variety of family's lives. The book was a little elementary for my 8 year old since has known about babies since I was pregnant with her brother. However she and my 3 year old both enjoyed the book and pointing out various aspects of the illustrations.

This book really tells is like it is! I loved it. But I sure wouldn't read it at storytime.

really well done in an indirect and inclusive way, even good for the littlest of kids.
