Heavy on the explanations, but light on prose, characterisation, and plotting. The writing is very dry and did not manage to engage me at all. I can tell that Sagan doesn’t generally write fiction. This felt clunky and just didn’t work for me.

A stroke of genius in Science Fiction. I truly dug the ethical and moral entanglements that the book engaged in so well. If you're into Science Fiction, Contact is a novel that you shouldn't pass up.

As a novel, one can be forgiven for thinking it overstays its welcome at times. It has moments of rich irony, great philosophical waxing, and rather vivid imagery. The pacing can feel a bit jerky at times, but read at the right pace, it’s a true trip.

As sci-fi novels go, it doesn’t hurt to be written by one of the great popular scientists.
