It is not a fast paced book, but it never felt like a slog. It fits into "Hard Sci-fi" and truly not something I would recommend someone that prefers a more fantastical sci-fi. The most fantastical element in the book is really a female US president before 2000 not the contact with extraterrestrial intelligent life šŸ˜‚

The first part of the book and the last part are great but everything in between drags on. I’m a huge fan of the movie and even when I hit the middle of the book I stopped reading it for a month. That being said - if you can get through it the book is great, I prefer the book ending to the movie as is somehow gives more closure to Vega and the whole trip that the movie cannot.

Is it wrong to say that this was everything I wanted 'Rendezvous with Rama' to be? (and everything it absolutely wasn't)

Flip me, that was good.

Complex, infintiely underline-able. Adventure, love, science, psychology, faith -- it's got it all. Thick and layered; just like I like 'em.
