It was a good story. Got muddled by politics and odd explanations of science, but the climax was pretty good. The ending was a little too wishy washy for my tastes. Overall a good read and a fun premise.

Ok. Contact by Carl Sagan is an attempt by a scientist to imagine what "feeble" humans would do to if sent a message via radio waves by extraterrestrials. I say fennel because CS makes it very clear that he is not fond of religion or religious people, politics or political systems, and general human skepticism towards science. The main character is Ellie Arroway, PhD who has a "troubled" childhood because her father died when she was young. She is naturally curious and as an adult is tasked with decrypting the message from the aliens and also making contact. The novel walks you thru the Early life, the message, the building, the voyage, and the aftermath. Overall, I enjoyed the science fiction part of the book but not the constant criticism of Sagan towards religious ideologies as if science and religion are mutually exclusive.

As relevant and interesting (to me at least) as it was in 1985. This one aged well.
