Nix the grandmother twist & the marriage of the kidnapper (I’ll even allow them to be trauma bonded friends, but MARRIED??) and I’d have 4 stars to give. Im no author but I can even imagine this being a 5 star read with some simple plot changes at the last quarter of the book.

Okay sooooo at first, I didn't get the hate. The first chapter or two wasn't too bad, I didn't agree with all of the characters choices but I was interested and invested. OH boy but did that change. I did NOT hate this book, I actually enjoyed rage reading it to some degree. At first it was upsetting but when I embraced the stupidity it was fun. I do think there were a few interesting ideas, and I did like some of what happened. But there were some big decisions that were made that actively pissed me off.. sooo yeah.. not great.

Thank goodness this was not my first Riley sager book because it would of been my last. Dumbest main character EVER. I’m disappointed that I waited a year for this. That scene in the diner…. Awful
I’m hoping for better next year

poor characters, weird twists, strange motives all round.

and that ending? ok. the whole thing with robbie is ridiculous, and so is end game romancing your kidnapper

save yourself some hours and pass on this book

One of the greatest thrillers I have read in a while. Absolutely loved it!
