This was fast paced and kept me on my toes. It had turns and twists and the ending was written well. Very satisfied with this read.

I can't explain it. Riley Sager's books have tropes I don't like, with dead parents and missing girls, but it still is thrilling and entertaining.

This book had so much potential. At first glance the plot seemed interesting but the characters fell flat for me. Especially the main protagonist. She’s the person who dies first in the most stupid way imaginable in horror movies. I don’t know how she even made it to adulthood. It was kind of laughable how bad the decisions she made were. The book dragged on yet the ending felt rushed. The motives for the murderer seemed really really far fetched. Actually, the motives for  most of the characters in this book were pretty ridiculous. I also really disliked the epilogue.

Where to begin? This main character SUCKED, bro. She was so whiny and a bit too unreliable, to the point where the “movies” occurring in her head simply distracted from the plot. I did not become interested in the story until 130 pages in, and even then I was questioning why I was reading it. I mean the twists were just absurd!  This book is proof that men shouldn’t try to write powerful women, or at least not this man. This “strong female lead” was instead portrayed as an annoying girl I couldn’t give two you know whats about. Epic fail and honestly there’s nothing I could even change to make this book good. 😅

I predicted how this book was going to end. Which usually would be a bad thing. But the twists and turns it takes you on before you get to the end were wild. It had me doubting what I originally thought. There were parts of the book that had my mouth hanging open for minutes as the story unfolded.
This was my first Riley Sager book, and it definitely won’t be my last!
