It's a shame Riley Sager is such a one-trick pony because his writing style is great. But it seems like he's stuck on the same overarching plotline. One or both parents of a 20-something girl are dead, she finds herself in a life-or-death situation, and the would-be killer is never who you're led to believe it will be. I have read 3 of his books and can confidently say I won't pick up any more, once you've read one, you've pretty much read them all.

I skimmed the second half of this book because by then I just didn't care, but I didn't to DNF another book. Plot? See above. Characters? Stupid, unlikeable, and boring, again see above. I didn't enjoy this book and I wouldn't recommend it.

It was my first book by Riley Sager and it won't be my last one!
The story follows Charlie and Josh who are both meeting on a campus ride board looking for a ride home to Ohio. Charlie is devastated over her best friend's death, who was murdered by a serial killer and Josh is on his way to care for his ill father. During their shared drive Charlie is having her doubts and is becoming very suspicious about Josh.
I really enjoyed the claustrophobic atmosphere. The majority of the book is taking place in the car. At night it definitely made me a little uncomfortable! I found the story very easy to follow and I also enjoyed the author's writing style. I absolutely flew through this book!
If you plan on reading it, stop reading this review now as I think it is best to go in blind!
The thing I enjoyed most about the story were all the old movie references. Like the main character I had a time where I just lost myself in movies from the 40s-60s. Those movies have a special magic to themselves and I totally get the adoration Charlie has for them.
I sometimes didn't understand why Charlie did or didn't do certain things but it still worked for me in the end, although I can see why people get annoyed by her decisions. The book is full of twists and turns which I enjoyed most of the time. The motives of the killer and the killer themselves felt a little off to me but I still very much enjoyed that book!
