This was a fast and easy read that I really enjoyed. I loved that the book is set in the 90s with a bunch of movie references and Nirvana being played in the tape deck. The main character, Charlie, was fun to read about, although at times she could annoy me and I loved Josh. I had a great time reading this and highly recommend giving it a try!

Okay, this was an easy read so I had to finish it even though it made me roll my eyes almost the whole way through. It's very cheesy and predictable, but at the end you realize why. It's a very surface level self-deprecreating angle of the horror/thriller genre, very meta as other reviews have mentioned. Certainly not his best, but it satisfies for a cheap thrill.

This was my first Riley Sager novel and I definitely see why people love his books! It was gripping and fast-paced, and I especially liked the fact that everything took place over a single night. It gave a sense of urgency that kept the tension up.

I did see the big plot twist from around the 50% mark, which is surprising considering I have very little experience with thrillers, but because of the unreliable narrator, I still felt compelled to finish the book. And speaking of the narrator she wasn't the most likable, and I felt her constant self-guilt-tripping was over the top. I would have loved to have seen more closure surrounding that particular aspect. Also, I had some issues with some of the ways mental illness was used as a plot device, but I am still working out why I had those issues (I'll probably update in a wrap-up or smth).

I am looking forward to picking up more books by Sager after this one!

By half way I predicted the ended. And sort of wish I didn’t read the last chapter when everything was so neatly tied up. But definitely recommend this book for the quick mystery and thrill ride.
