I had a good time re-reading this book. It wasn't as good as I remember, but I had fun.

America Singer is insufferable. She just follows emotions without thinking. That's literally the whole book. So read this if you want a girl flip-flopping around about what she feels.

I was holding out hope for Maxon, but he disappointed me so much. Boo. Marlee disappointed me too. She did wrong, even if her sentence was harsh. Aspen is still a jerk.

The only character I like at this point is the queen and we probably only got one paragraph of her. The maids are still really nice, too.

Also, what is going on with palace security??? They can afford so much luxury, yet they apparently can't find a way to keep someone from breaking into the palace every two seconds. Not to mention we have the world's best detective team here who clearly is figuring out what the rebels want. (Spoiler, THEY STINK AT DETECTIVE WORK.)

I usually try to find nice things to say about books I have negative reviews about but I can't for this. It's false romance, predictable, annoying and uninspiring. And I hate that I need to know what happens to these characters. šŸ˜‚

Book two is down to the six girls on this royal dystopian bachelor show. But does America even want the prince? Does she want the crown?

I enjoyed this book more compared to the first of the series. The odds were heightened and it felt like more was happening, especially near the end.

I found America to be slightly annoying at certain parts because of the way she was handling having a double romance however Iā€™m glad that she seems to be making a clear choice now (which i hope she sticks to).

The story is also getting more political with more focus on the rebels and the country as a whole. Overall Iā€™m very excited to read the third book and see where Cass takes the story next.

Okay so I think if I hadn't read this book when I was younger, I'd probably not like it as much. A lot of it doesn't make sense. The differences between the rebel groups are not explained at all and a lot of world building in that department is missing. At the end it didn't make any sense that the king didn't send America home, but still told her she is horrible and can't be queen. He could've just gotten rid of her??

To The love triangle is frustrating, even though I can kind of understand America and her indecisiveness. I liked Aspen for some time, but in the end he just felt like the loser who'd chose her no matter what.

I like that America has more self confidence, but in the end she regretted doing the presentation, which I didn't understand. She was so determined and it wasn't like she didn't have enough time to think about the consequences. For her to bring Gregory's book was beyond stupid and didn't make any sense. She wouldn't have been that delusional?

Well in the end, I have to say that I still enjoyed it. I loved it as a teenager and I think for the age group of 12-15 it's probably flawless, so I won't judge. I will also reread the last one! :D
