I can see what other reviewers were talking about with the wishy washiness of Americas decision between Maxon and Aspen. It's more than being torn between two men. It's complete indecisiveness to me but in the end it finally looked like she had made a choice. Can't wait to read The One.

Okay, my shelves reflect my disappointment with this book, and I don't think I really need to explain, but I'm am bursting with indignation at the moment and I want to rant.
First of all, Maxon makes me sick. Second of all, America is such a freaking WHINER. Now, I have a lot more qualms with this book (and the only thing I really admired about the story was the similarity to the story of Esther), but I don't want to give anything away. Hopefully someone else will read this soon so I can complain and rant about women's rights and that kind of thing. Usually I'm not super crazy out there about that stuff, but OH MY GOD, this was just ridiculous. And it made me want to vomit. I still feel like vomiting. I haven't rated a book 1 star in a LONG time, but this book definitely deserves it. It killed me listening to it. I wanted to break my computer in half. And I pretty much skipped through the last hour because, once I knew what America had decided, I was disgusted. Anyway, teenagers should not read this book because it says all the worst things about relationships - and definitely makes it seem like the men have all the control and are allowed to do anything they want to make us feel like crap, including cheat on us, belittle us, ignore us, and demoralize us. Thank you, Maxon, for living up to my expectations. I hate you.

This book was SO DAMN FRUSTRATING! And it better be May VERY VERY soon, because I can't stand this not knowing how it'll end.

This book is better than the first one, in my opinion. Every time I pick up this book, I find myself drawn into the dystopian world. The main character, America, could have done a lot of things differently in the book. I don't think I would willingly give people the next moves I want to make for myself so willingly. The king has a stronger presence in this book, and he is quite menacing.

was it decent? yes. was it addicting? yes. was it special? absolutely not. nothing significant happened in this book and the ‘secret’ i suppose was very predictable that even in the first book i knew what the southerners and northerners true intentions were. maxon is a sweetheart and america needs to toughen up because she doesn’t deserve to still be there. but i can’t let go of this series i need to read it all 💓

nice read.
liked it because of the love triangles (that too TWO), jealousy trope but also disliked it because of the slow speed and too confused mind the fmc.
