The book had some interesting parts to it but the short vignettes and out of order story telling just made me lose interest.

Brutal. Just absolutely and seaselessly brutal. It's a book where terrible things happen to people, over and over again. It's a book full of tension and contention and so many ungrieved losses. An uncomfortable read, but as Alice was part of the Civil Rights movement during this time, then I think there must be a lot of truth on it. It's pretty pathetic that I am squeamish to the fiction when people like her had to live with the actuality. The writing is impactful, beautiful and haunting at times, but honestly this was an unplesant read and I don't think I could stomach another of her books.

The Movement doesn't need more martyrs is a saying that can apply today as it did in 1970s when Walker penned Meridian. This timeless classic explores race, identity and personal development through the eyes of a young Black woman during the post Civil Rights era. It's hard not to be besotted with Meridian at the end of this novel, I dare you to try!

So it took me a long time to finish it but i guess that was because i am lazy. But i did enjoy this book . It's very well written and gave me so much beautiful quotes. It sometimes angered and sometimes satisfied the feminist in me. It is the first proper book i finished after a long time, so cheers to that

This book was written so well I don't completely understand it. This is the kind of book I'd want to read in an English class so as to understand it and be able to discuss it with others. Really enjoyed it, incredibly well written. Quick read.

This book was tough to get through, not only is the writing a bit too dry for me but there’s also lots of graphic descriptions of rape
