I'm finding this hard to rate. I think in some instances the art style was fantastic, and in others I wasn't sure. Some of the characters looked exactly how I imagined, and others not at all. The original text is obviously amazing so the story itself is great, but I think a lot of the nuance and inner workings of Sephy and Callum's minds can't be seen in this medium, to the detriment of the book. Especially near the beginning I felt like there were omissions and jumps which would seem confusing if you weren't already familiar with the original text. I also found it hard when they would quote exactly from the original text but then miss part of the quote or scene out, although that wouldn't be so much of a problem if I hadn't read the first novel so recently. At the same time, however, some of the images, and in general seeing the scenes in a visual format, made them play out much more intensely than in the novel.

It's interesting to compare this, the play, and the tv show as adaptations of the same base text but all very different, and all choosing to include and exclude certain things.

I'd say this is definitely worth your time, but it isn't perfect

Damn. For whatever reason Kamal pressuring Sephy to have an abortion or to let Callum die hit me a lot harder in the graphic novel, especially with so much conversation about who abortion is accessible to and where. This story is so good, and the show does an amazing job of adding elements not even in the book to have the story be even more contemporary (like police brutality) which is the only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars.

I've never really read any graphic novels before, it was certainly a swift way to cover ground but I didn't really connect with the chatacters or the emotion of this great novel.
I prefer the origional

Just as moving as the novel was. Would recommend for a new experience of the original, or if you wish for a shorter version of the Noughts and Crosses book.

This book is classified as alternative reality. True, but really the reality portrayed has happened and it still happening. Some people need to see themselves in another role to understand how others suffer.

The graphic novel adaption is okay, but I have a strong suspicion the book is a lot better.
