I adored this book. My second read from Ann Napolitano did not disappoint at all! It actually made me cry, and getting to step into the Padavano sisters’ lives for a couple of days was both heartbreaking and a pleasure. The book ended in a similar to her debut novel, Within Arm’s Reach, but the “cliffhanger” didn’t disappoint me so much as it did in that book- I thought it was a beautiful way to wrap up the story. I will say, the only character I could not feel much sympathy for was Julia. Reading her chapters, I just found myself filled with rage at her decisions. Regardless, this story has become one of my recent favorites.

This was a generational novel that follows the Padavano sisters from Chicago, and William Waters who marries into the family. We follow their lives and relationships, and learn a lot about mental health, family dynamics, basketball and injuries, betrayal, and ultimately forgiveness and love. Many of these characters were extremely stubborn and not exactly relatable to me, but I enjoyed their story nonetheless.
