I had such a hard time getting into this story. It was a cool concept and the prose was pretty to read but I feel it was too long and somehow still lacked enough emotion to draw me in. We had soooo much time with Ashley and Logan and their budding relationship STILL seemed so random and rushed. I think I struggle with these types of YA that start with a compelling mystery but then give all the answers to everything in a mad dash at the end. Probably a personal problem

This was an intense read, and I was very into it. The whole character of The Dark could have been confusing and contrived, but I thought it was written so so well. All of the characters were really well-developed, and I can't wait to read more from this author. Plus,
f yeah the girlies getting together!

Logan Ortiz-Woodly, daughter of TV's famous gay Ghost Hunters - ParaSpectors, has just been ripped from her LA home to move to...where was it again? Oh, right...Snakebite. However, once her and her fathers arrive, things start getting dicey. Teenagers are disappearing, some are being found dead (okay, a lot are being found dead) and the hostile little town has their eyes set on who it is: her fathers. Having been run from the town previously, after a horrific accident, the fathers aren't any happier to be back than Logan is to be here, either. When Logan meets Ashely, the local missing kids girlfriend, she teams up with her to figure out who is doing this, before it's too late. Courtney weaves a dark, eerie tale about acceptance, just how much a small town can harbor and hide (about your friends, your family and ultimately yourself), running from your past, and just how far a father in grief will go to stop the pain while sprinkling in a bit of ghostly apparitions, horror, mystery and LGBTQ+ themes.

I unfortunately don't have a PLAYLIST nor FAVORITE QUOTES from this book. I did thoroughly enjoy it but, I read it while I was on a grippy sock vacay and that made it a little hard to fully immerse into it as I usually do.

This book is everything to me. It’s a perfect contrast of dark fun murder mystery combined with a ghost element that isn’t fully explainable but isn’t fully abnormal. Logan is unapologetically a lesbian right from the beginning and that kind of confidence in sexuality among young women in sapphic stories is rare and extremely refreshing. I need more loganashley I can’t wait.
