Respectfully... this did not deliver the summer vibes that I was hoping for.

The premise hooked me, and the summer camp setting had so much potential but it didn't feel super summer-y. 😭 Wilder came across as a man written by a woman, but not in the good way. (I can't fully explain it but his dialogue and actions felt off and too perfect in a way.) The characters and honestly the entire plot felt soooo unrealistic that it ended up pulling me out of the story. And listen, I read fantasy and love escapism as much as the next girl but it didn't work for me in this book.

That said, I can definitely see this being a fun, bingeable, summer read for other people. I also really enjoyed Scottie's character and loved seeing her character growth.

This is really a 3.75 but bumped to 4. Wilder is green flags all the way. Between Wilder being absolutely perfect and the spice in the last third of the book, that's what saved it for me. I loved the idea of the best friend's brother and fake marriage plus some forced proximity, but Scottie was just not it for me.
