Spoilers:
I did not expect to like this book as much as I did. The premise was so much fun, fake dating at a marriage retreat summer camp. First of all, I love the summer camp vibe, so much fun. Arguably, there could have been more of that, but I'm not complaining.
Wilder was so much fun. I loved his improv moments, especially during the therapy sessions. I actually laughed out loud during some of the scenes. I loved that he was so mature and so willing to grow and learn and help Scottie figure out who she is and let herself be herself, cause she was going through a lot when it came to her actual divorce. I will say, Wilder had a lip ring, but I did elect to ignore it because he should not have that, but I was not allowed to forget it. I just thought that he was so much fun as a person. I love someone who is down for everything. He was just willing to do whatever cause he was a rich guy who didn't have to work, and I was obsessed with that.
Scottie was cool. I don't think she had anything substantial, but I also kinda liked and related to her in some ways. She was insecure and hesitant and just trying to fit in, and how can I complain about that? I liked that Wilder was willing to be patient and kind since she was still healing, and after therapy sessions, when she was upset, he would give her the space she needed and then help her through it.
Their therapy session were my favorite. I was laughing out loud. I loved the drink that they made together and the golf ball that they had to color. Even though they weren't in a real relationship, they had such good chemistry to the point that they had to make up fights cause they were doing so well. Also, being in the sex room with everything was funny, and I lowkey think they should have done more with that, but I also like the pace that came with it because the timing just felt perfect.
Once the camp was over, and Wilder was trying to woo her and complete all the things on the bucket list that they had made together was so cute. I loved that he kept seeing the therapist and that he would make sure to be different than her ex. He was so in tune with what she needed, and I just loved that so much.
The one thing I can't believe is that she just gave up and told everyone that it was fake. I get why she did it, but I also feel like I wouldn't have been able to not keep up the lie.
Overall, I might be forgetting something, but I did have such a good time reading this book and their chemistry was everything and even though everything was slightly over the top, is was just so much fun.
