Chapters 1-20 were great! The main character is selfish, judgmental and loves the blame game. I do not like her one bit, I actually kind of hate her! Scratch that I actually really hate her! However, the supporting love interest was a charmer with a lot of great qualities. The surrounding characters (both good guys and bad guys) all had a lot of personality and even though they didn’t have much “screen time” they brought a lot of life to the book. This first part of the book had me laughing out loud and connecting on an emotional level. I really enjoyed it but then it took a turn for the worse.

I don’t mind some “spice” in my reading but when it’s all shoved into six consecutive chapters with little to no break, it gets to be a little much. It didn’t add to the plot or character development, it was just…there. That combined with all the “toxic” undertones disguised as healthy relationship advice completely took away from the good messages it did have. (I know that’s a personal preference so I wouldn’t give a poor rating based on this.) Unfortunately chapters 21 through the end were really boring. Im sure a lot of people will disagree with me because that’s where all the sex was shoved in and apparently that’s all people seem to care to read now days, but not much happened after that. It was disconnected and drawn out all just to say, “okay, you can have your happy ending now.”

This was my first Meghan Quinn book and it was a wild ride! The first chapter started out with a ton of gen z slang and my first thought was... oh no. The writing is not anything revolutionary, but the plot line and humor is fun. I definitely binged the story quickly! I wish the MMC was a little less "perfect" seeming
(& ok we get it; he has a lip ring and a dick piercing... moving on)
. The FMC was working through a lot of trauma while the MMC's "issues" were just kind of there. The activities at camp were hilarious though and I'm a sucker for good banter. The ending felt a little rushed, but no third act breakup! Just them kind of deciding if they actually want to be together when camp is over. Overall, a fun & quick read. Lots of spice in this one...
like they stay in an actual sex cabin.
