I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to NetGalley and Erin La Rosa for providing me with an ARC copy of Plot Twist by Erin La Rosa in exchange for an honest review.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the story. The premise was engaging and unique, capturing my interest from the very first chapter, which I was finding hard to find more recently. La Rosa's writing style is fluid and captivating, making it easy to get lost in the world she created. Her characters are well-developed and relatable, adding depth and authenticity to the narrative.

One aspect I particularly appreciated was the dialogue. It felt natural and dynamic, enhancing the interactions between characters and adding layers to their relationships. However, while the dialogue was generally endearing,
I found the conversations during the spicy scenes a bit off for me. They tended to take me out of the story. Admittedly, I'm very particular about the dialogue in these moments, so this might not be an issue for other readers.

I also have a hard time with the one-bed trope within contemporary romances, but it was a bit tongue in cheek as she did mention that trope within the book, so I could get past it.

In summary, Plot Twist is a delightful read with a compelling premise, strong writing, and mostly great dialogue. Despite my minor qualms about certain scenes, I highly recommend this book to fans of contemporary romance looking for an engaging and enjoyable story. Thank you again to NetGalley and Erin La Rosa for the opportunity to read and review this wonderful book.

I just think the issues that arose were not what the couple would actually have issues with.

I’m not sure I think any “twists” in this book warrant the title as this was a pretty formulaic story, but it was cute enough for a typical contemporary rom com. The alcoholism made the themes a little heavy at times.

Book : Plot Twist
Author : Erin La Rosa
Pub Date: 14 Nov 2023

Thank you NetGalley, Harlequin Trade Publishing & the author for the opportunity to read and review this book.

The things that exited me and I loved so much about this book :
- Dual POV
- Just the right amount of spice
- A fun romance about a romance writing looking for romance herself
- The realism in the issues and problems within the book

When I was finally able to, I sat and read this book in one good sitting and couldn’t put it down. The storyline was great, I laughed a lot and I felt the emotion the characters were feeling. Please know that there are a few TW’s in this book of alcoholism and addiction.

This is definitely a pre-order/ready-to-buy book and it needs to be on your reading TBR. I can’t wait for the next book that this author puts out.

Everything felt very high school/juvenile. Relationship dynamics, conversations, interpretations of situations. There was potential there for sure, but it really fell flat very quickly for me.

This is the second (though standalone) story in the series, and the author weaves those past character relationships into the current story, in such a way that if you've read the first book, you're appreciative of it, and if you haven't, you're not confused about who's who, or what's going on. And I think that can be hard to do, without it feeling clunky, but was done flawlessly here. The main story stays the main focus, but there is enough going on with these characters, and all of the people in their lives, that it doesn't feel one dimensional. It really helps you feel like you're getting to know the characters individually, and so you're rooting for them even more as they get closer to one another.

It's a good read if you like:
-Rom-coms
-Best friends brother
-Friends to lovers
-A grumpy-cinnamon roll MMC
-A sunshine FMC
