Ok page turner - 2.5 really

Is it a murder mystery? Is it a whirlwind romance? Yes--and neither is particularly satisfying. In addition, there are too many loose ends left dangling at the end to suit me.

From Valletta Airbnb, A romantic thriller.

It was the first book I read by this author. I bought it at the airport so I could have something to read on the airplane.
I have to say that the romance in the story was really not that interesting, and kinda obvious. It reminded me of the days I used to read Meg Cabot's books. All so predictable: two people that hate each other until they fall in love.
The crime story is good, not new or anything.

Quite readable, and reasonably enjoyable, but also quite cliché-d with the plot.

Classic romantic suspense page-turning novel by a popular author. Modern damsel in distress (delicate, but intelligent, and loved by many) who falls in love with a dark savior (black sheep of his family). While you just know they are going to find each other by the end, there are many obstacles along the way, including an excellent twist at the end. Implied sex and mild violence. This is a stand-alone novel.

I picked this up thinking it was a thriller. It had too much romance for me. I had a really tough time accepting that a man would quickly fall for the woman accused of murdering his brother. The story itself was interesting, the plot was intriguing, but the final clue was a bit of a "cheat" - in that there was no way we could've discovered who the murderer was until the very end. Another thing that hung me up was the constant references to the "murderess." This was in contemporary times, and that terminology felt archaic.

Not a bad read. Just not what Gerritsen has come to be known for today. The book is adequate as a mystery romance. It keeps the pace moving and has the requisite twist of an ending. Nothing new here. But nothing bad.
