Wasn't sure when I started this how I liked the plot. But as I got deeper into the narrative I was hooked. This was one of the first pieces of feminist literature and it left an impression on me. If you like Jane Austen or Charlotte Bronte then you should try her little sister Anne.

A beautifully written story ahead of its time.

One can't tell that "Agnes Grey" and "The Tenant of Wildfell Hall" are written by the same person. Two very different stories and two very different narrative styles; both equally impressive.
Mr. Markham was a little immature in the way he handled things. He was a little too emotional but I guess that got balanced out because Helen was so sensible and mature.
I enjoyed reading Helen's diary more than the first third of the book: not only her writing but also the plot during the middle half was very entertaining and enlightening.
