This is a hi-lo YA book, meaning it's written in accessible language for reluctant readers. The book is well written, swiftly paced, and engaging, addressing contemporary issues (like financial struggles and homophobia) in a realistic and unsentimental manner. I would definitely recommend this for teen readers, especially those looking for an authentic queer female protagonist.
