This was really not my favorite in the series. I missed having Ryan in the story first of all. There wasn't a whole lot of forensic anthropology. This was a mediocre who dunnit novel at best. It very much felt like a filler book that needed to get written. I'm still keeping up with the series, but I could have done without this one.
Although this book took me longer to read than most of her novels, it was an interesting story. Although it felt a little disjointed at times, Reichs weaves right-wing extremists, NASCAR racing, and a cold case together in a story with multiple cliffhangers. Tempe's romance life also takes a few twists and turns. This book also received Evansville, Indiana's One Book One Community selection for 2012. I can't wait to meet Kathy Reichs on November 1st! If you are new to her novels, I might suggest starting with one of the earlier ones so you understand all of the backstory involved, but it is not too complicated to pick up on if this is your first novel by her.
I like this one the most out of the last several Temperance Brennan books. To me the story felt tighter so I didn't ever get impatient with what was happening.

Not one I would normally pick up, I tried this book because it's part of our "One Book, One Community" program and the author is coming for an appearance later in the year. The last book I remember of this program was The Help, and I've beaten myself up for not getting to hear her speak.
But...I only got 4 chapters into this book before I just had to give up. I very rarely not finish a book. I don't need my hand held when reading, and annoys me to no end when an author does it. So no. Not enough time to waste reading something I don't enjoy.
