This was a really good book, but was also very heavy. The topic it dealt with during moments of the book were very hard to read, but it was also very well written by the author. She tackled a pretty serious topic and she did it well.

August is about to be drafted to play in the NBA and is ready to make a name for himself. August then meets Iris a girl who loves basketball and who he feels an instant attraction to. After their unexpected encounter over drinks August finds out Iris isn’t single and is actually dating a guy who has been his nemesis since they were children. Over the years August keeps bumping into Iris and wants nothing more than to get his chance with her, but as her life becomes more complicated with Caleb and his control issues the chances of August and her ever getting a chance together seems impossible.

The story this book tells into it leading up to August and Iris is heavy and is difficult to read at points. But August is such a good guy and his gentleness with Iris and bringing her light back to her is worth the read. I definitely recommend this book but recommend checking out the trigger warnings because this book might not be for everyone.

Summary:
The story of Iris, Caleb and August’s love triangle. One of the most heartbreakingly yet beautiful stories of abuse, survival, healing, triumph and romance. She broke me down and put me right back together.

What I Loved:
- I absolutely LOVE Iris! She is so relatable, down to Earth, intelligent, a lover of sports, strong and beautiful.
- Lo is the cousin we all need!
- Add August and his 6’6”, athletic, romantic and protective self to my list of book boyfriends!
