It’s been a while since I stayed up to finish a book. Kennedy….girl! You wrote the hell out of this book! Completely shattered my heart and mended it right back together. I know we had a trigger warning but I had to pull ALL the lifelines: take a break, phone [text] a friend, 50/50 guess what’s next, stand speechless against my wall, just all of it. I legitimately paused, went and read reviews in an attempt to soften some of the blows. But we STAN a heroine. Love her tribe but Iris is the REAL hero. I know too many like her and I’m in awe of their strength, in the best way. My heart is still distraught. Get your tissues ready. Book a f/u therapy appointment. You’re gonna need all the things.

Wow. The storyline involving domestic abuse was eye opening and gave me so much to think about.
I just wanted to get to the good and happy bits with August. Turns out you have to get through over 60% of the book and the horrors inflicted by Caleb.
This is really a book about surviving intimate partner violence/domestic violence than it is about 2 people falling in love or going through a relationship.
The book is good, but not what I was expecting nor what I want.
