Kennedy Ryan

4.18 AVERAGE

4.5; this was really heavy.

This was my first Kennedy Ryan book and I now have the rest of the series on my TBR. This book was so well written and showed the realities of abuse and the impact on a victim, especially one with child. Iris is one amazing mother, and an even stronger woman.
I loved August’s character and although insta-love isn’t always my thing, his desire to be with her was everything.

I finished this last night and honestly I have no idea what to say about it, I didn’t even really want to give it 4 stars because it defiantly wasn’t my book, but it was still so good and delved into really tough subjects so I would have felt awful giving it anything less than 4 stars.

In a lot of ways it’s a better version of Colleen Hoovers It Ends Wjth Us (not that it’s hard to be better than that) but it has a lot of the same themes, the main character iris goes through a lot of the same relationship struggles (because her partner is an obsessive psycho). It’s also a sport romance, but there isn’t really a lot of romance, which makes sense considering everything iris goes through.
There is a happily ever after, but it comes at a huge cost to everyone involved.

Defiantly read the trigger warnings if you’re going to read this book, because it was incredibly difficult to get through at times.

It was a good story, but I wasn't expecting a lot of the beginning parts of the story. With how the first chapter started, I was expecting the traumas to have happened in the past, not explained during the first half of the book. There are a lot of graphic events that happen during this book. If you are affected by those, please read the trigger warnings. I really liked the last few chapters about Iris's journey and how she told her story.
