This is my first Kennedy Ryan read! I enjoyed reading this story, but it really led me down a road I wasn’t expecting. Wow! That’s all I can say.

Oh my goodness. This was so heartbreaking and warming, and everything above. I may have cried a little, who’s cutting onions?!😭
Iris- I find her journey so empowering. Because yall don’t understand how often this happens, the most powerful woman getting reduced to a single dust. It’s sad but true. At least she got the support she needs and eventually moved on from that @sshole. No one needs him anyway.
August- I would marry you but Iris deserves you. I adore the fact he still loved her even after like a year of not seeing her. Now that, that is yearning. This is longing on another level. It’s actually really cute. Also the fact that he took care of her so much, but being gentle about it even though he didn’t know what happened to Iris. Oh my god, who’s crying because it’s not me!😭
Overall I really liked this book because of how real it is. It had real life implications which makes it all the better. Also, the writing? Top notch. Sign me up cause it’s nice.

August and Iris were meant together. I added many content warnings because this book was a hard read, but I ended up enjoying the love/romance in the story. Iris and the man who repeatedly abused her and trapped her into having his baby was one of the worst characters I have ever read in my life.

I wasn't expecting the direction of this book based on some of Kennedy Ryan's previous novels. However, I just LOVE her writing and the way the stories progress and are told. The subject matter is intense but there is hope and tenderness too. I am going to continue working through her backlist but I will probably be a bit more thorough with TWs!
