It was so beautiful and it has been months since I've finished reading this book but it has still been stuck in my mind.

This book came very highly rated by several peers. It was a good book. However it felt like it took to long to get to the conflict that was obviously inevitable. It was over half way through the book before that occurred. It was a sad ending to me but appropriate. This book did remind me greatly of a Jodi Picoult book I read many years ago so maybe that is why I didn't react as strongly as others did. I do think the storyline was very realistic and more common than people know. It does shed a light on the thought process these women go through which is hard to understand from the outside. Good book overall that I did read quickly.

It's really nice to read a book that will make you feel all the feels. This book is one of it. It made me angry, scared, frustrated, confused, in love, proud, sad, and then very very sad lol.

⚠️CONTAINS SPOILERS FROM HERE ON⚠️

I love that we saw Ryle through Lily's eyes. Because of that, it made me fall in love with Ryle, too. I was really rooting for them. And then the first time he hurt Lily, I was hurt too. I actually didn't know what to feel. I guess, I understood what this book was all about.

It's easy for outsiders to see it in black and white; either you leave to stop the abuse or not and let it continue to happen. But in reality, when you're in that situation, you'll have to ask yourself many questions to determine whether you're doing the right thing or just overreacting.

You can't just drop everything and leave because you can't just unlove a person in the span of 1 minute. If you love someone, it's inevitable to have hope for them. To have faith that they won't do it again; that they'd do better next time. And then again, and again, and again.

Breaking the cycle would be difficult and extra difficult if you have kids to think about. That's why I was really glad that Lily finally managed to do so.

This book is so heart-breaking and so beautiful at the same time.

Full disclaimer on my 2/5 stars rating: that’s mostly me and the circumstances in which I read this book.

I picked up this book at the airport because I’d seen it a bunch and I proceeded to start it on a flight to see extended family and then a family member passed away.

Yup.

Do not read this book under similar circumstances if you’re sensitive like me. Epic Fail. But still, I can’t rate a book higher than my experience reading it unless I want to borrow another person’s review

En beroendeframkallande bok som jag inte kunde sluta läsa! Första boken jag läser av henne men säkert inte den sista!

I admit it's not all bad, but most of it is lol
