My rating and overall enjoyment of this story were always dependent on the ending. In the beginning while it flowed quickly and was easy to get into, I was a little frustrated to find it quite predictable. And while a few plot holes resulting from creative license gave me a distinct feeling of inauthenticity (which impacted believability) overall the story is solid.

Loved this book. I just couldn’t stop reading. It is very easy to read and the story really grabs you.
I have always thought what I would do if my partner would ever raise their hand towards me… of course, I would tell them to fuck off and leave them. But as in the story, we are not talking of a situation where things are black and white. We often forget that we are talking about someone we are in love with. We often say in these cases/or even when we see femicide news: why these women never left their partners?
It is very hard to judge in these cases. People change when they are in love. We all do. And I think we could only understand these women if we are going/went through something similar.
Let’s not forget the system keeps failing to protect women!
For me, the hardest part to read was in their last fight/his last assault to her. It made me feel anxious, my body was reacting in such a way I couldn’t understand. I was feeling not even a tiny bit of what Lily was going through.
I recommend 100% this book.

#audiokniha - Vůbec nevím, jaký na to mám názor. Na jednu stranu je dobře, že kniha vyšla, že poukazuje na vážná témata. Na druhou stranu, přijde mi divné, jakým stylem je kniha prezentována - romantizuje tady domácí násilí, ta květinová obálka ... mně knihy obsahující násilí nevadí. tu běžně eroťárny, a dark knihy, ale jsou tak označené. Nejsou prezentované jako romantické knihy.
Jako, jo, je to psané čtivým stylem, ale oba hlavní hrdinové byli nesympatičtí. Strašně mě štvala Lily, když viděla, co se dělo její mámě, a pak si nechala ubližovat stejně. Štval mě Ryle, že byl schopnej zmlátit svojí manželku kvůli pitomý magnetce na lednici, a článku v novinách. Naprostý psychopat. Co mně ale zarazilo nejvíc, bylo to, že Rylova sestra věděla o jeho výbušné povaze ... a přesto s tím nic nedělala. Nesnažila se svému bratrovi pomoct. Doporučit mu navštívit psychologa ... sakra, jeho vlastní otec je psychiatr!
Vůbec netuším, zda se budu pouštět do druhýho dílu. Možná časem. Teď určitě ne.
