Great book. No complaints - the story is very easy to follow/read, it tugs at your heartstrings, has a fulfilling ending. I just don’t think Colleen Hoover is for me. Not to say I wouldn’t read another one of her books but it’s just not my preferred cup of tea.

There is a lot of negativity in the media around her and her glorification of abuse (somewhat justifiably so) but I think this book tells a different story.

I can see why readers enjoy her work so much and I would recommend this one to others!

ok yk what, this book is fucking wild in the worst way possible. like what even is this.

This booked annoyed me in many ways while I enjoyed it other times. First off the character names irked me, i mean Lily Blossom Bloom, Ryle (just do Kyle or Riley, please don’t subject your kid to this name), Atlas, Emerson Dory etc. It didn’t make it feel like a realistic story.

Moving onto something I enjoyed was reading Lily’s diary entries to Ellen (which was an random choice but I digress) about Atlas. Did it fit so many cheeses tropes? Yes. But did i like hearing about their friendship and relationship progress, and how they both helped each other in different ways? Also yes. I honestly did find myself enjoying that section of the book, imagine them watching tv together, their guards both coming down. But did we have to end it with Atlas getting his bones broken with a baseball bat? Was it necessary?

Ryle infuriated me to a point of no return. In their first interaction he was arrogant. Just get the hint she didn’t want to sleep with you. And of course if you’ve read the book you know it gets infinitely worse from there. And then he gets married to his first girlfriend after 6 months?

Honestly I would give this book 2 stars but the entries about Lily and Atlas is bumping it up an extra star. About them, I wanted them to end up together. I know it’d be so expected, but for some reason I genuinely liked them.

Thanks for coming to my first review

Naked truth; this book is really badly written and the theme of spousal abuse is exploited to romaticize a person who is abusive.
