The book overall was a good book. I enjoyed reading it. I liked as one of the main character’s story was unfolded and took a while for both the reader and the other character to learn about. One of the things I didn’t like about this book is that the author relied heavily on romcom troupes (miscommunication, will they/won’t they, fake relationship) when the main subject of the book is very heavy. I also felt that the spice really didn’t belong in the book. Felt icky (this is coming from someone who works in the mental health field- there were a lot of imagined boundaries being oddly crossed- like- what?)

I don't recall where I heard about this book but I'm so glad that I did! I will be looking at Cross-Smith's other books. 🙂. Definitely had me tear up a couple of times.
.
A rainy night brings Tallie and Emmett together at the right time for each of them. Tallie, a therapist recovering fom a devastating divorce, encounters Emmett at his lowest attempting to end his pain. Throughout the next 3 days, they experience a lot of emotions together.  But both of them are keeping secrets about who they are so they can be allowed the freedom of not being judged for their profession or their past.
.
A beautifully written journey about healing, taking up your own space and how to move forward.

This is one that picked up for me by the second half of the book. Is this a romance? I wouldn't consider this to be one. I am not a therapist, but I imagine that Tallie crossed some severe professional lines by taking Emmett into her home despite being in a mental crisis. But, if you can get past that, I enjoyed reading this.

This book is so beautifully written. It is a story of salvation and redemption. A story of true love and saving grace. Tallie and Bridge are complex, beautiful characters who have both endured tragedies and help one another learn to live with those hurts. The end was beautiful although the outcomes were not what I had hoped in some ways. I loved that this book is set in my hometown. I will read anything else this author puts on paper.

This book was fine, not great, not bad either. A little long and uneventful and slightly predictable. Worth a read if you’re looking for something deep
