fascinating views on american politics (that i don't know much about, if i'm being honest) but the book really picked up when she goes on to discuss china and its political influence worldwide. she's really not wrong that we don't see the world as it is, with its power plays, propaganda, and (sneaky) oppression. i guess most of us just choose to be ignorant and overlook it simply because its easier.

i'm not sure if its the issue of the narrator or just the way the book was written, but the entire book lowkey felt like she was preaching directly in my ear. also i see where she comes from, and i can completely understand why she has this perspective (that there are more prevalent, and pressing issues such as murder/trafficking) but the casual transphobia was wild as fuck

This book was excellent! Ms. Park is a wonderful writer/storyteller. While this book was more political in nature, it was just as good as her first book recalling her escape from North Korea.
