Re-read March 2017

I'm not sure what happened when I first read this book, but I enjoyed Hunter of Demons way more the second time around. Maybe it was the right book at the wrong time when I first read it, but thankfully the stars aligned and I decided this would be a good time to give it another shot. I'm so glad I did, because it was a fast-paced read with lots of action and some sexy times thrown in. I can't wait to read the next books in the series.

Wow, this was a lot different than her Whyborne & Griffin series! I liked it, but I felt kind of like I was thrown into the deep end of the pool, with just one little floatie to keep me going. I didn't understand what was going on at all, at first, but I think I was figuring it out by the end.

I'll give the series another book or two to decide how I really feel about it all.

I'm about to binge this entire series because I loved HUNTER OF DEMONS and I have to know what happens next for John and Caleb as well as Gray. As an unregistered paranormal Caleb Jansen has been hiding his magical abilities, small though they may be, so the last thing he needed was to be possessed by an ancient vampire spirit and then taken into custody by SPECTR agent John Starkweather. When John, an exorcist, fails to remove the vampire Gray from Caleb things get even more complicated.

I was immediately sucked into the set up for not just the world but also the characters. From Caleb's sarcasm and defensive walls, to the growing understanding between Caleb and Gray, to the attraction between Caleb and John, I was fully invested. Throw in a host of other paranormal beings and some political maneuvering within SPECTR and I was hooked.

This does have a bit of a soft cliffhanger in the sense that the fight against the bad guy is resolved but things are just getting started between John and Caleb and they still need to figure out what to do about Gray.

Really felt like the start of a series so not a lot is going on yet. But the premise is really good so far. A demon hunting demons whilst sharing their mind with a mortal? Really curious where it's going to go.

I enjoyed this intro to a new series. It was interesting and I can't wait to read more about John, Caleb and Gray.

What a great start to the series! Quick pace but not rushed, suitably spooky and detailed without being horrific, and sexy to boot. I will have to bump book two up my reading list!
