Darling and Dexter’s stories are so engrossed in my memory I got so nostalgic reading them I LOVE. I loved the majority of these stories, like Cedar and Raven and Darling and all the Wonderlandians, they were so wonderful and I will forever love these books ☺️ Also every single character in this book is 100% neurodivergent and I love it.

Shannon Hale’s Once Upon a Time: A Story Collection is a fresh ticket down memory lane. I personally think this was a pleasant surprise- I didn’t really expect to click with the story much which was why I put off reading it for so long. I love Ever After High, I was so devastated when the series ended so abruptly- it was one of the heartbreaks of my high school days. This was a charming refresher to such a wonderful series. One thing I was a little disappointed by was the lack of depth and nuance but I’d take that as me probably being too grown up for this series (gods, am i too old for this series now??). Overall, I did really have a fun time reading this and connecting with the world of Ever After once more. The characters were as pleasant as I remember, and it was such a nostalgic read, primarily maybe because I haven't watched EAH for so long. Technicalities aside, I think this is the perfect book for anyone who loves anything ever after.

I love anything from Shannon Hale! I really liked that the narrator had to talk in numbered subtitles in the last chapter because of the character and that character tied together all the short stories. Many of these short stories were leaked as teasers for the upcoming first title. They were not forgotten and so were compiled in this book. Thank you Shannon Hale for another winner!
