This is a great novel in the thread of The Lovely Bones. Monica is trying to go through the motions of life after tragedy has struck her hometown and her family. He sister committed suicide soon after four other members of her cheerleading squad were killed in a devastating murder and an accident. When she realizes that there are some questions left unanswered, it leads her down a scary quest for the truth.

It flowed really fast, and admittedly I was caught off guard by the ending. In hindsight, a lot of the things mentioned in the book make a lot more sense once you know how it ends.
I also don’t know why they put that last chapter in, and I was hoping Ginny and Monica would get together tbh-

so usually I can’t stand these types of books because it seems like they are all the same and so generic and bland. well, this was completely different.

i loved the main character, surprisingly. she was super realistic and just a genuine person and I enjoyed reading about her. I also liked reading those flashbacks with Jen.

this book really made me emotional, it’s very sad and it made me think a lot about life. Monica’s and everyone else’s struggles were so real and this whole story was so down-to-earth.

one of the best things is that there is no love interest. I think the highlight of the book is the relationship between the friends, more than romantic, which I thought was such a good and refreshing move.
highly recommend.

An interesting read, I liked Monica well enough and enjoyed being told the story from the present time and the past.
