Perkin’s writing has great teen horror energy- easy, breezy reads with some over the top gore. I am not generally a fan of hillybilly horror, so I will say this novel didn’t hit for me the way There’s Someone in your House did, but with a novel you can finish over the course of a short flight (I think this one took me under four hours)… how wrong can you go?

For how short this book was I expected it to be a faster read. I was expecting dark, thrilling horror, but it read more like a guide on camping - what to bring and what not to do. I think I’ll just stick with Stephanie’s contemporary/romance stories and avoid her thrillers in the future because they don’t seem to be my taste.

I read this book in bed, and when I got to the final third, circumstances (fear, anxiety, thrill) compelled me to finish because there was no way I could fall asleep.

The first 104 pages were so boring. It did get better, but not by much. I just hated these character so much, I was cheering for the serial killers to finish them off so the book would end.

Anyways, I love Stephanie Perkins but this one was just a miss for me.

I cannot believe I wasted my time reading this. Single handedly the worst book I've ever read.

The book is 221 pages long so why did nothing happen for the first 100?

Plot? World building? Back story? We don't know them.

Such a shame as I'd been anticipating this for a long time, but this was just bad...

As a fan of hiking memoirs, horror, and YA, this book was perfect for me! I enjoyed it although I’m sure I’ll have more anxiety on my next backpacking trip.
