This was ok. Kinda had me in the first half, the end definitely felt somewhat cliche.
I should've known, since I didn't like Stephanie Perkins other horror book. I was intrigued because it was set in the Pisgah forest, and I love books set where I've been or lived. There were a few good scenes, but overall it just felt underdeveloped. The villains were literal Appalachian hill billy stereotypes.
An okay outdoorsy thriller— it got a little gory for me (should have known better, as Perkins is an excellent slasher horror writer). The sexual violence seemed unnecessary and did not feel like it added much to the themes of the story. Recommend the audiobook to help with pacing.
This was so good! Yes, the characters were flat, somewhat predicatable but the gory details, the creepiness and the tension were great. The setting was very well chosen and added to the creepiness. Thoroughly enjoyed this one.
What an adventure! 2 best friends take a final trip together before college. The relationships in this felt so real. I could 100% imagine myself in this friendship, trusting the other person but keeping my own secrets. It is the perfect balance between friendship book and thriller!
Oh man and that ending?!? SO GOOD!

I really did not enjoy this book. The first 50% was a meandering wilderness tale and the last 50% was just a bunch of traumatic stuff. And the ending was just… No. Such a disappointment.
