My true rating is 4.5 stars - I really enjoyed the second half of the book. The build-up to the action was kind of slow and made it slightly hard for me to get consumed by the story. I wish everything happened a little bit sooner and there was more about what was happening to the girls during the action. I will say I was pleasantly surprised by some of the events that happen. It does get pretty dark in some parts which may be a trigger warning for future readers. Otherwise I recommend this!

This was … kind of unsatisfying.

The prose is good, nice mingle of description and dialogue. The scenes are painted well.

But at times it feels a little gratuitous and gore for the sake of gore. It kind of reminded me about how I feel about Stephen King - fantastic writer but demands a huge suspension of disbelief - I wanted to enjoy it more, but in the end it felt kind of pointless? Like, Josie and Neena were building to something but we never see a conclusion for it. It was like so much built for so long the ending was rushed and I hate that feeling.

I can see this being made into a movie or a show though, it has a good structure for something akin to The Hitchhiker.

I enjoyed this book and feel bad for how long it has taken me to read it since the day I actually bought it. It was a very fast and easy read, I finished it in one day.

Honestly, just not good. You can tell this book was written by someone who is not from Appalachia, but wants to try and sound like they are LOL.

YA thriller/horror with badass MCs. Also, solidified my fear of men.

One of my favorite aspects of this was the relationship between Nina and Josie. The tension they had at the beginning of their journey was so accurately portrayed and really helped to add to the tension.

Wow. This book has everything. And by everything I mean everything that makes a book TERRIBLE. Completely unlikeable characters? Check. Absolutely mind-numbingly idiotic decision-making? Check. Aforementioned stupid characters somehow still being able to outsmart the main villains? Somehow also check. Worst use of Deus Ex Machina of all time? Check. Completely unsafisfying ending after sitting through all the previous utter garbage? You guessed it. Check. Ugh.

Pov I'm trying to eat my crackers for lunch, listening to this audiobook and some girl keeps talking about her nasty twisted foot and peeing in jars as some creepy dude jerks off in the background.

The Woods Are Always Watching is about two best friends who take a camping trip by themselves for the first time and things go wrong. Suddenly they are injured and someone is stalking them.

I really tried. I saw the shit rating and even after the mess that was [b:There's Someone Inside Your House|15797848|There's Someone Inside Your House|Stephanie Perkins|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1493650191l/15797848._SY75_.jpg|21520760] I was like okay Stephanie let's do it. But honestly this was worse, which is saying something.

So these two best friends go hiking & camping... for the first time. They have absolutely no idea what they were doing and I still don't get why they even wanted to do this. Instantly they start getting mad at each other until suddenly they start getting attacked. One of them gets REALLY fucked up and it was just ??? She spends the entire book NOT dying and it was ridiculous like I am no doctor but sis would have been dead hours ago, let alone all the extra trauma she goes through after. And then the other girl starts getting messed up too like please...

Shock is a thing and they were doing way too much. Shock can literally kill you but okay keep doing whatever you are doing then. Also, ew I didn't need all the details about her mangled up and tangled up foot every other page. Yes this is a murder book, okay, but I would believe ghosts are coming out and haunting the woods in cute bedsheets instead of her doing all this shit while BLEEDING OUT IN A DITCH IN THE GROUND before she gets HER HAND DESTROYED TOO. Also why is there an asthmatic character in every horror movie / book ever like we get it, you can't breathe just go home.

Because this book is (thankfully) short, we get no character development nor do we get any actual reason any of this happens. The bad guy is a bad guy because he is evil. He just wants to be psycho idk who cares right?

The suspense was not there and it was all just a waste of time. I know I don't care for survival stories in general but come on. Why the pee jar as a weapon though why.

I'm not reading another one of these if the author writes another one lol I am done.
