Listening to this book, I had so many emotions. Mostly, I was angry. I was angry at the injustice Chanel continually faced. I was angry that everyone wanted to be lenient toward Brock Turner because it was his first offense and so out of character and he was a good swimmer. I was angry that they blamed the victim for drinking too much. And I was angry that this is not the only time this has and will continue to happen. I was also sad for Chanel. Her life was completely changed because of a stupid man who decided she was not worth making her own decisions about her body. And then she continued to be negatively impacted by stupid people who thought the same thing. But I am proud of her for overcoming that and proud that she was not afraid to call him out for all his wrong doing. He deserves worse, but at least she was able to hold him accountable for herself. This book was a hard, but worthy read. I hope Chanel continues to find peace and happiness moving forward.
