This book seems simple at first glance, and yet quite a lot of meaning is packed into its pages.

For anyone like me who’s had a harder time stirring up patriotic feelings in recent years, this is the book to change that. I highly recommend you pick the book up and share it with a little one in your life. I guarantee it will spark conversation about what makes America truly beautiful.

I thought the illustrations in this book were beautiful and very realistic! This book would be great to help someone learn a few new words in a different language, too. My kids didn’t enjoy this story much, but hopefully they’ll appreciate more when they get older.

This would be a good storytime book. (b/c the pages are large and vibrant, flows nicely with rhythm--would pair well with "I too am America").

This is a beautiful picture book about our nation's flag and what it symbolizes for so many Americans. The author and illustrator did an amazing collaboration! It's extreming moving. The words and illustrations stir up strong emotional responses and questions that can lead to great discussions.

I'm always so, so impressed by Nelson's artwork.  Like, how is he able to paint that well???  I have no idea.

This book also really brought me back to my childhood, when I had no negative emotions towards the United States.  It felt bright and shiny, and everything felt good.  It was nice to feel that way again, to have hope for the country you've been living in for most of your life.  I want to feel that hope again, and this book is a great place to begin.

Who does not love Kadir Nelson's artwork? Just absolutely stunning. His people & faces are breathtaking. This is the kind of Patriotic picturebook I can get behind with the emphasis on diversity and togetherness.

Kadir Nelson's illustrations always stir my soul and move me to near tears. This book is no different.

A lovely, spare, and inclusive tribute to our flag.
