To say Memphis and Preacher were rough around the edges is an understatement, but that didn't stop me from falling in love with them just as quickly. Memphis's brutal past had my heart aching from the very first pages, and I can't even imagine the strength it took to survive in that environment for so long. Preacher was more of a mystery to me, but seeing how fiercely he protected Knox and Memphis, who were two total strangers to him, showed me what kind of man he was. I didn't even need to hear the story of why he was convicted, but understanding his background did help explain why he and Memphis connected with each other right away. Their romance was a bit of a whirlwind, but given all the chaos happening around them it was kinda comforting to know that the two of them were carving out little pieces of happiness with each other.

In between the heart-pounding action and steamy moments, I loved seeing Memphis transform from a defeated, beaten-down guy into a man full of liveliness. A big part of him opening up was thanks to Preacher's gentle touch, but Memphis drew on his own inner strength just as much as he leaned on Preacher for support. As Memphis and Preacher opened up to each other, it was wonderful to see their emotional connection lead to some of the most intensely delicious sexual encounters I've ever read. Memphis's demanding-yet-submissive streak, Preacher's breeding kink, and all the hours of teasing and edging were incredibly hot, and I soaked up every moment of bliss to get me through the chaos going on outside the bedroom.

Between the vivid imagery and fast-paced plotline, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading. Memphis and Preacher had to face some absolutely terrifying threats, and as they ran from safehouse to safehouse I was worried that they'd never truly be free from danger. The two of them had such magnetic chemistry together, and while they were in bed exploring each other's bodies it was so tempting to imagine that their entire lives could just be endless pleasure. Much to my dismay, the threats surrounding Memphis and Preacher were quick to rear their ugly heads every time I thought they'd managed to build a safe haven. I was both thrilled and incredibly anxious when Memphis decided to make his stand against his father, and the last-minute situation with Knox was so unexpected that I almost screaming in frustration. I've never felt my heart beat so fast or been so unsure of how things would turn out, but something Memphis and Preacher managed to keep everyone safe. Their happy ending may not have been the most traditional, but it felt wonderfully fitting for the family they built together.

**I voluntarily read an ARC of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.

Preacher and Memphis!

Preacher was a little different than I expected from the first book, but he was still great! And Memphis, like wow, talk about dysfunctional family. Memphis is the gay son of Tennessee, the psycho and homophobic leader of a motorcycle club. And after leaving a decade ago Memphis returns home when he discovers is younger brother is fated to live the same horrible life he did. Like thank god for Preacher, cause Nash, Memphis’s older brother is also a psycho. Although, I did find the treehouse to be a little slow moving, the rest was so good.

I loved the dynamic between Memphis and Preacher. Their instant connection was exactly what this story needed after what Memphis and Knox went through. Preacher was the perfect protector and he had no problem opening up to Memphis to tell him about his past. I also loved the happily ever after in this book. Recently too many epilogues take place a week or so after the last chapter, but this book actually took you a couple months into the future which was a nice change.
