This is a filler between two better stories, in which Penric and his companions continue their travels, their relationship with each other progresses erratically, and he learns some unexpected new skills from his demon.

It’s not a bad story really, and it adds variety to the series, but somehow I seem to enjoy it less than the other Penric stories. I reread it mainly for completeness, because it’s part of the series.

Its main function is to give Adelis, Nikys, and Penric a new base of operations outside Cedonia, although Penric at least doesn’t plan to stay long.

Another enjoyable installment, taking place immediately after the conclusion of the last installment. Pen is still in trouble, and watching him and his demon wriggle their way out of escalating trouble is very enjoyable. Ends to be continued; luckily the next installment is ready for me.

Let’s just say that the casting game for this series became much more entertaining. Looking for an actor who could play both Penric and Mira, and imagining him dressed as both of them… :-D

Men use to think they were falling in love with me all the time, most of the time they were just in love with their own cocks

This was hilarious and the best one in the series so far
